Rome’s oldest known Latin inscription dates from the sixth century BC; the most recent major specimen was mounted in 2006―a span of more than two and a half millennia. Please oh please make a kindle version

This book was eminently useful on my trip to Rome. It contained many of the important inscriptions as well as some I hadn't noticed before. A personal favorite being the monument to Honorius and Arcadia in the Forum which had Stilicho's name crossed out after he was executed. I would've totally missed that weathered marble block if the book hadn't pointed it out to me.

HOWEVER, this book is heavy, even in its paperback version. It definitely added to the weight, being lugged around in my backpack, and especially in this modern age, I could see this book being far more useful in an electronic version, or even its own App.

Otherwise, a solid book. Just one that needs to combine its old fashioned scholarship with new fangled technology.

EDIT: Looks like they took my advice and made a kindle version. HUZZAH.

a must-have for fans of Rome

This book is a must-have for fans of Rome. It will be of interest to scholars, tourists ... and to anyone interested in getting to know a new "layer" of the Eternal City. Lansford doesn't just translate Rome's Latin inscriptions; he puts them in historical context, bringing them to life. The organization of the guide into walking tours will turn even the most well-known neighborhood of Rome into an off-the-beaten track discovery.

A must have for ANY fan of Rome!!

My stepson was bragging to me about a Roman History class what a great and extremely knowledgeable Classics teacher he had at the University of Colorado, so I curiously asked to see the syllabus to the class. Immediately I read name Tyler Lansford on the top of the page and realized my stepson was taking a class from our "personal" guide, my stepson and I had just traveled to Rome the summer before and used Lansford well crafted book as a virtual tour guide of Rome and its timeless inscriptions by foot!! A must have for all ages of those who wish to understand the ancient city of Rome, and to those who wish to see hidden marvels in the city of Rome that they would otherwise be unaware of.

Pathetic

Very little practicle information, lots of useless information - like, buy a photocopier and get the internet.
The book says the great thing about the business is that you can be home-based, thus minimizing expenses. Only
tucked somewhere in the book does it let you that you need a minimum of $250,000 to $300,000 credit line from
a bank in order to get started and the book tells you that freight brokers (especially new ones) are not bankable.
The book starts off by explaining that a freight broker brings shippers and carriers together and that anyone who
wants to really do this, can. --> Only later does it let you know the bad news, that at least 99% of truckers only
use freight brokers because the freight brokers ADVANCE their money to them (hence the huge $250,000 minimum start up costs)and the freight brokers then need to collect the fees from the shipper.
In other words, I believe the publishers of this book are doing a disservice to the many people who are buying their words at face value that this is indeed a home-based business that anyone (who will work at it) can do.
This is untrue. If you don't have immediate money to pay the truckers, you can't even start.
ALSO, becasue the book provides VERY LITTLE INFORMATION, it does not empower you with the knowledge you will need to
approach a company with a propostion to use you as their shipping broker. It's as simple as that.
The publishers of this book are wasting their readers money.

For those of you who hate text books this is a great resource. :P

Fenton writes in a way that is not too difficult to understand for those of you who are just beginning to study poetry. He's engaging and interesting while he skims over the basics and sinks into the more difficult aspects of English poetry. If you are the kind of person who would rather read a book than study a text book this is the perfect choice for you. This book was required for an English class that I was taking and I found that I was able to understand the more complicated poets a little easier than I have with any other texbook I've read.

Fantastic find from a friend

I geek out on food books. Been reading about all the diets to find a convention that works for me. This book captures a lot of items I already knew (eat vegetables & fruit) but goes into detail about which foods do what. Just as any diet book, one will not agree with everything, but I found myself understanding the science & agreed with 95% of the book. I have put a lot of trust into this book because now I have began taking suggested supplements for the brain. I have many books, China Study, The Zone Diet, Primal Blueprint; but felt this book was more accurate with real science. This has became my favorite diet book to date.

It was recommended to me by a friend who used to work as a personal trainer. I found it very informative and educational. I like how the studies referenced were listed as well so one can do more research if interested.

I started to improve my diet while reading this book and have already seen and felt the improvement. Sure you still need to read it with your critical thinking hat on as you read any book. It is definitely a book worth reading.
